This is a 7 day hiking trip with 6 days of hiking and takes place in the towns of Corvara and Cortina in The Dolomites of northern Italy.
The hiking will be on established trails making use of the local lifts where available. Our accommodation will be mostly in towns and there will be 2 nights at back country lodges with shared accommodations.
In Cortina, we are in the heart of the Dolomites and the location of the 1956 Winter Olympics. Our bed and breakfast is centrally located and we can walk to a variety of restaurants or pubs. While visiting the back country lodge, our luggage will be transported by van to the next town. This allows us to hike daily with our usual day pack. Enjoy the Tyrolean flavour with scenery and local culture in this much loved area of The Alps.
The trip requires a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12 hikers.
Known the world over, Chamonix is the center of the universe when one thinks about mountaineering. It is home to some of the highest peak in the Alps. On the outskirts of town is the Aiguille du Midi cable car which is the highest in Europe at 3842 meters. There is a tunnel under Mont Blanc built in 1965 that provide passage to northern Italy and the town of Courmayeur.
This is a 6 day and 7 night hiking trip to be enjoyed by moderately strong hikers. The lodging will be in the town of Chamonix in a house that sleeps 12 people. This house is a 5 minute walk from downtown. There is room for exactly 10 hikers. Our chef, Theresa Calow from Golden B. C. will be catering all the meals and we dine family style at the house. The house has impressive outdoor space with a deck area, hot tub, private garden and outdoor pool. Each room can be prepared as double or twin beds.
The longest hiking days is 6 hours and there is one day only 4 hours.
Once you arrive in Geneva everything will be arranged including all accommodation, transportation, tram rides, guiding and catering. Breakfasts and lunches and dinners are included. Airfare is not included. Prices for the 2019 hiking season will be announced in October 2018. A commitment by December 1 of 500.00 per person is required.
