Travelling on snow shoes brings one more way to enjoy our winters in the Rockies and Purcells. There are only a few back country lodges that are well suited for these weekend trips. The snow shoes hikes have less elevation gain than the summer hikes and we never travel into avalanche terrain.
When the weather is stormy or chilly, I swing by the front door of the lodge around noon allowing folks to warm up by the fire. This also allows folks to join us for a half day, if that is what they prefer.
The snow shoe trips require a minimum of 8 hikers and all trips are catered. The lodges are accessed by helicopter only. Flights in winter depart on Friday and return on Monday. The wood fired sauna is one of the attractions after our snow shoe day. If you have never experienced a back country sauna in winter, it’s time you did!
